The company today also released a teaser video which shows the silhouette of the MPV. The teaser also states that the MPV will come with SUV styling and “The legend has elevated itself to a new HY, with muscular SUV stance and glamorous yet tough styling.”
The Hycross gets a large and upright hexagonal front grille which looks aggressive and it gets wide headlamps with two L-shaped inserts housing the main light units and the bumper gets triangular housings for the fog lamps. The car also features a more muscular bonnet and a raked front windshield. The new Toyota Innova Hycross will get a ‘Hybrid’ badging on the front door. A few other notable features include blacked-out ORVMs and pillars as well as an integrated spoiler.
While the Innova Crysta sits on a ladder-frame platform with a rear-wheel drive configuration, the Innova Hycross will be based on a front-wheel drive monocoque chassis, which will help improve its road manners. Apart from the updated design, Toyota could also offer the hybrid MPV with some new features.
In terms of features, expect the Toyota Innova Hycross to come with an 8-inch infotainment system, 360 camera, semi-digital instrument cluster and an electric sunroof.
The new Innova is expected to be offered two engine options a 1.8-litre and a 2.0-litre petrol engine with hybrid technology. Dimensionally, we expect the new Toyota Innova Hycross to measure 4.7 metres in length and will get a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.
We expect Toyota to price the new Hycross starting from Rs 18 lakh. When launched, the Hycross will sit above Crysta Petrol and will compete with Mahindra XUV 700, Jeep Meridian, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.
