Now, Kia India has silently launched the Carens with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The company has discontinued the 1.4-turbo due to upcoming RDE norms. The price for the new 1.5-turbo Carens starts from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Carens with 1.5-turbo Petrol will be offered in four variants – Premium, Prestige, Luxury and Luxury Plus.

The 1.5-turbo Petrol in the Carens produces 160 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. Gearbox options include 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. There’s no manual gearbox on offer. There are no changes made to MPV except the addition of a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine.

Talking about the other two engines offered with the Carens – it gets a 1.5-turbo charged diesel engine which produces 115 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed iMT and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It also gets a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which produces 115 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque – gearbox options include a 6-speed manual only.

Talking about the features, the Carens gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with connected car tech, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Auto climate control, one-touch electric-assisted tumble function for the second-row seat, keyless go, cruise control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, rearview camera, digital instrument cluster and more.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS, ESC, hill start and descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Carens competes with Hyundai Alcazar, Maruti Eritiga, Maruti XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
