Many users took to Twitter, saying they felt tremors around 7:57pm.
“An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred in Nepal, at around 7:57pm, today. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground,” the National Center for Seismology said.
There were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property.
This is the second time that earthquake has struck Nepal this week
On Wednesday, a magnitude 6.3 quake had rocked Nepal, killing as many as 6 people and sending tremors across north India.
