A host of drivers have received engine and gearbox grid penalties for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix, meanwhile Nyck de Vries will be driving for Williams this weekend after Alex Albon was diagnosed with appendicitis earlier today. 2022 Italian Grand Prix Qualifying 1
Max Verstappen went the fastest in the first Qualifying of the day, posting a lap time of 1:20.922, followed by Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in second and third respectively. Sergio Perez finished fourth, with George Russell on fifth. Nicholas Latifi, Sebastian Vettel, Lance Stroll, Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher were eliminated in Q1.
2022 Italian Grand Prix Qualifying 2
Carlos Sainz picked up the first position in Q2 with a time of 1:20.878, with his teammate Leclerc just +0.330s behind on second. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were behind the Ferrari teammates on third and fourth respectively, while Lewis Hamilton finished fifth fastest. Meanwhile Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Nyck De Vries, Zhou Guanyu and Yuki Tsunoda did not make it to the final qualifying.
2022 Italian Grand Prix Qualifying 3
Charles Leclerc managed to secure pole position at Monza after setting the fastest lap time in Q3, i.e. 1:20.161s. Max Verstappen finished second, with Carlos Sainz in third. Sergio Perez was fourth fastest in the final qualifying, while Lewis Hamilton finished fifth.
George Russell, Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, and Fernando Alonso finished from 6th to 10th respectively. However, it should be noted that Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Bottas and Yuki Tsunoda have received grid penalties for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. This means that George Russell joins Charles Leclerc on the first row. Meanwhile Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo take up the second row at the main race tomorrow.
