Powering the new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG is the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder NA petrol engine as the regular version of the hatch, but it now obviously works in tandem with a factory-fitted CNG kit. In CNG mode, the engine puts out 57 PS of max power and 82 Nm of peak torque. In petrol mode, the power and torque figures rise up to 65 PS and 89 Nm respectively. The Maruti Alto K10 CNG has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 33.85 km/kg, which makes it one of the most fuel efficient CNG cars in the Indian market. For reference, the petrol-powered Alto K10 returns a mileage of 24.39 km/l with the 5-speed MT, and 24.90 km/l with the company’s auto-gear shift transmission.
No changes have been made to the car whatsoever. The equipment list has been carried over from the VXI variant of the petrol Alto K10. The new CNG variant sits at the top of the variant line-up, which means that the Alto K10 is now priced from Rs 3.99 lakh to Rs 5.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
